Walgreens has been part of the fabric of America for over 120 years.
I was commissioned by Design Bridge in New York to help rejuvenate the logo. Originally based on the founders signature I also used historical reference to inspire the crafting of each letterform.
Looking back into the past helped to highlight some of the most identifiable elements that were important to retain.
The previous logo had many imperfections and the ‘g’ to ‘r’ connection proved awkward and distracting.
Many exploratory sketches were made in order to find the perfect balance…
The logo has been drawn to be as versatile as possible. It has to work at various sizes and on many applications from social media avatars to large 3D signs.
The Walgreens W is such an iconic asset helping to bring through personality across the brand.
